New ThinkPad X60 and T60 Series notebook computers with Intel dual-core processors have been unveiled by Lenovo, a computer company, offering a reported 37% improvement in battery performance and 11 hours battery life with an extended battery.

Lenovo said the new notebooks enable remote connection through their embedded wireless wide area network (WWAN) antennas, allowing users to connect at airports, hotels, at home and in the office. The company plans to include integrated high-speed wireless support for Verizon Wireless for certain models within the T60 and X60 Series notebooks in the US.

The incorporated Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology includes the Intel Mobile 945 and Intel Core Duo processor and the X60 Series offers 667 MHz front side bus and 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. According to Lenovo, dual-core processors improve multitasking and productivity when compared with previous processors, enabling multiple high-performance applications to be used simultaneously.

ThinkVantage Access Connections 4.1 will allow mobile users to move automatically between available network connections, while Rejuvenation technology will help the system to run more quickly. The ThinkPad T60 Series includes the ThinkPad Roll Cage, Active Protection System and ThinkPad shock-mounted hard drive, offering a more robust design for mobile workers. Certain models within the T60 and X60 series will include integrated fingerprint readers for additional security.

The ThinkPad X60 Series will be available from around USD1899, while prices for the ThinkPad T60 Series start at USD2049.
