The Expedite EU740 PCI Express Mini Card Embedded Module from Novatel Wireless, a wireless access provider, is to be embedded in the Toughbook CF-18 notebook computers from Panasonic, a computer products and electronics manufacturer.

The partnership between Panasonic and Novatel Wireless introduces 3G HSDPA 2100 MHz technology to users of Panasonic notebooks in Europe and the two companies will work to integrate the 3G modules into other Toughbook notebooks.

Toughbook CF-18 users will be able to stream high-speed audio and video and download multimedia applications and data intensive files via the Expedite EU740 wireless module. The notebook, which transforms into a handwriting-friendly tablet PC, is available in Europe and is the first model to incorporate the Expedite EU740 HSDPA/UMTS 2100MHz module, which offers 3G connectivity with up to 1.8Mb/s speeds.

The Expedite EU740 is also backward compatible on EDGE, GPRS and GSM networks in order to ensure coverage for users in locations where HSDPA technology is not available. Panasonic's Toughbook CF-30 and CF-74 and Toughbook light series (models T5/W5/Y5) mobile computer notebooks, will also be introduced with the embedded modules from Novatel Wireless.
