Laptops with fully integrated HSDPA technology are to be introduced from mid-June 2006 by computer company Fujitsu Siemens Computers and mobile operator T-Mobile Germany.

The LIFEBOOK Q2010 notebook will be the first to be introduced, available in Germany and in Austria via T-Mobile's partner S&T, supporting GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA. It features a wide-screen display, DIN A4 format and security mechanisms to protect access to stored data.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers is working with T-Mobile to develop other laptops with integrated HSDPA technology.

According to T-Mobile, HSDPA provides speeds of up to 1.8Mb/s, allowing users to surf the Internet, carry out downloads and access applications. T-Mobile's UMTS/HSDPA network covers more than 1,000 German cities at present, reaching around 60% of the country's population. Working with T-Com the operator is to provide about 7,000 locations such as hotels and airports with high-speed mobile data transfer, via WLAN.

T-Mobile Germany offers a DataConnect Exclusive data tariff for EUR8.95 per month, in conjunction with the web'n'walk XL data option available for EUR35 per month and a further EUR1 daily utilisation price.

No pricing information for the notebooks was provided.
