The new range of MacBook consumer notebooks, which incorporate Intel Core 2 Duo processors and are reportedly 25% faster than the previous generation, has been unveiled by computer company Apple.

The range includes the white 1.83GHz and 2.0GHz MacBook and the black 2.0GHz MacBook models which feature a 13" wide-screen display, iSight video camera, iChat AV, iLife '06 applications suite and MagSafe Power Adapter.

The MacBook incorporates the Mac OS X version 10.4.8 Tiger, which includes Safari, Mail, iCal, Front Row and Photo Booth and built-in 10/100/1000 BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire 400 port.

The 1.83GHz 13" white MacBook is available for a suggested retail price of GBP749 (inc VAT) with 667 MHz front-side bus, 512MB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, expandable to 2GB and 60GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm).

The 2.0 GHz 13" white MacBook is available for a suggested retail price of GBP879 (inc VAT) with 667 MHz front-side bus, 1GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, expandable to 2GB, and an 80GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm).

The 2.0 GHz 13" black MacBook is available for a suggested retail price of GBP999 (inc VAT) with 667 MHz front-side bus, 1GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, expandable to 2GB, and a 120GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm).
