Worldwide Computer Products News-11 October 2006-Google introduces Google Docs & Spreadsheets service(C)1995-2006 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
A Google Docs & Spreadsheets service has been unveiled by Internet search engine Google Inc, providing information sharing software, combining Google Spreadsheets with the Writely word processor acquired by Google earlier this year.
The service aims to give groups or individuals web access to the same data, helping to resolve the problems involved with managing and collaborating on information held in spreadsheets and word processors. The service will enable users to share information and view previous versions of specific documents, saving them from sending documents backwards and forwards as e-mail attachments.
Google Docs provides features for business workers and consumers, with spreadsheets able to contain up to 50,000 cells or 10,000 rows. Data is stored on Google's central computers and information can be exported or imported into other file formats such as Microsoft's Excel or Word programmes.
The Google Docs & Spreadsheets service is in public test mode at present and is available free of charge - more details can be obtained from http://docs.google.com.
