Electronics manufacturer Sony has announced the launch of a new series of notebooks from the VAIO range.

According to the company, the new C1 series models are 37mm thick, weigh 2.3kg and come in five colours, including green, pink, silver, black and grey. They feature a 13.3in widescreen display running at 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution and use Sony's X-black technology. In addition, they include Intel Core 2 Duo processors, 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM memory expandable to 2GB, 100GB or 120GB Serial ATA hard drive and a Dual Layer DVD writer.

In addition, each notebook can reportedly be teamed with a carrying case created for the range by Italian bag designer Mandarina Duck.

No pricing details were disclosed.
