Worldwide Computer Products News-23 August 2007-Lantronix adds SecureLinx Branch Office Manager to product portfolio(C)1995-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

US-based network solutions provider Lantronix (Nasdaq: LTRX) announced on Wednesday (22 August) the expansion of its Distributed IT Management product family with the addition of the SecureLinx Branch Office Manager (SLB).

According to the company, the SLB has been designed to meet the needs of remote office/branch office environments and allows system administrators to securely manage servers and IT infrastructure equipment over the Internet. The device combines the capabilities of Lantronix SecureLinx SLC secure console server with remote power management and an integrated Ethernet switch into a single, 1U rack-mountable appliance.

By designing all the necessary functionality into one device, the solution reportedly reduces both equipment and maintenance costs involved in managing geographically-distributed IT assets. It includes the SecureLinx SLC console manager functionality, enabling system administrators to remotely manage Linux, Unix and Windows 2003 servers, routers, switches, telecomms and building access equipment. In addition, administrators can control the power individually to all IT equipment in the branch office to reboot systems remotely, ensure safe power distribution and reduce 'in-rush' current overload.

The SLB includes eight serial and four power management ports, as well as an eight-port unmanaged fast Ethernet switch. Secure access is provided over an IP network via a web browser or terminal emulation program with support for security protocols such as SSL or SSH, the company claims.

SecureLinx Branch Office Manager will be available in early September, 2007, priced at USD1,895.
