Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), a provider of products to connect storage, servers and networks, announced on Monday (3 December) that its BR-2401 embedded storage bridges are now shipping in Japanese electronics manufacturer Fujitsu Ltd's ETERNUS family of disk storage systems.

According to the company, the Emulex BR-2401 is an integrated FC-to-SATA storage bridge, which may be deployed as a chip or circuit board-level solution. It has been designed to provide transparent emulation of Fibre Channel disk drives, enabling users to deliver a versatile, low-cost storage solution that meets the high capacity needs of the enterprise. The bridge enables the insertion of SATA HDDs into any Fibre Channel drive slot or shelf within a storage system.

By combining Emulex's BR-2401-based multi-protocol tiered storage interposer circuit board with its ETERNUS storage systems, Fujitsu enables customers to combine Fibre Channel and SATA disk drives within the same enclosure, allowing for maximum system flexibility, the company said.

No financial or pricing details were disclosed.
