Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX)(TSX: OTC), an independent provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, announced on Wednesday (14 February) its new e-mail management solution, jointly developed with computer technology company Sun Microsystems Inc (Nasdaq: SUNW).

According to the companies, the offering is part of a relationship between the two companies and is designed for large global organisations, and the problems they face monitoring and archiving huge e-mail volumes to meet regulatory, compliance and litigation requirements. In tests, the solution reportedly demonstrated that it can handle the indexing, monitoring and archiving of up to 7m e-mails per day, or over 2bn e-mails per year.

The joint solution consists of Livelink ECM - Email Monitoring for Microsoft Exchange or Livelink ECM - Email Monitoring for Lotus Notes, Sun Fire x64 (x86, 64-bit) and UltraSPARC-based servers with the Solaris Operating System (OS). No financial or pricing details were disclosed.
