The new AutoCAD 2008 computer-aided design (CAD) software has been introduced by Autodesk Inc, a developer of 2D and 3D design software.

The updated edition of the software builds on the modelling and visualisation enhancements in AutoCAD 2007, with a focus on improving designers' ability to quickly and easily document their designs, Autodesk says.

It features simple creation, editing and management of annotation scale, tables, text and leaders, together with a variety of improvements in functions from drafting through to presentation.

Autodesk has also released the new AutoCAD LT 2008 software, the latest version of its 2D drafting application, which features the improvements to drafting tasks that have been made in AutoCAD 2008.

Both AutoCAD 2008 and AutoCAD LT 2008 will be available in English, German and Japanese.

Autodesk also said that it has introduced Autodesk Impression 2008 for producing illustrations, and that its Autodesk Design Review 2008 software is now available as a free download from the Autodesk website.

No other pricing information was released.
