Worldwide Computer Products News-6 February 2007-Apple advises iTunes users of Vista compatibility issues(C)1995-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Computer company Apple has advised users of its iTunes music software to wait before they upgrade to the new Windows Vista operating system from software company Microsoft, stating iTunes may not work properly.

Apple claimed there are a number of issues, such as problems synchronising data and playing purchased files, and confirmed its support website and a new iTunes version, suitable for Vista, should be available in the next few weeks.

The company listed compatibility issues such as a failure to play music and video purchased from its online iTunes store, failure to synchronise media, contacts and calendars automatically and poor animation performance. It has made a downloadable tool available for Vista users which it said will repair permissions for important files, however did not detail the exact compatibility issue.

Microsoft said it has a team working with Apple in order to make iTunes function fully on Windows Vista but confirmed it does not believe the issues are a reason to stop using Vista. It claimed over 5,000 hardware and software products were already compatible with Vista upon the system's launch.
