Sapphire 5, a low-cost DHCP/DNS appliance for remote office deployments, has been introduced by BT Diamond IP, a provider of software and appliance products to help customers manage complex IP networks.
BT Diamond IP said Sapphire 5 offers a rack-mountable 1U platform, optimised to accommodate up to 3,000 IP addresses and 20,000 resource records and expands the Sapphire 10 and Sapphire 20 appliance series. It claimed the Sapphire 5 offers a configuration suited for deployment in sales offices, retail stores and small office environments.

Sapphire 5 is fully manageable from the BT Diamond IP IPControl system, which offers centralised management of IP address space, pools, subnets, IP addresses, resource records and associated DHCP and DNS configurations. In addition the IPControl Appliance Dashboard provides monitoring, services control and appliance-level configuration, of all deployed Sapphire appliances.
Sapphire 5 offers multiple flexible network interfaces, rack-mountability, centralised management and TwinMirror high availability and is priced at USD2,400, available from 30 July 2007.
