Internet search engine company Google has redesigned its Google Docs & Spreadsheets offering, to make it easier for users to manage the documents accumulated, following feedback.

Google said the updated service offers sidebar with folders, with the previously used tags converted into folders and users able to drag and drop documents into any folder. Documents can be located in multiple folders just as with tags. The application also sorts documents by collaborator, enabling the user to search for documents via the 'created by me' and 'shared with' options along with the previous document title and content fields.

In addition, Google said that Google Docs & Spreadsheets features an improved search facility, including autocomplete, with all relevant documents, folders and collaborators displayed when the user starts their search query.

The redesigned Google Docs & Spreadsheets, which is available at http://docs.google.com or through Google Apps, also offers chronological sorting, new icons and an easier way to save documents in different formats.
