Computer company Apple has announced that it has updated its MacBook Pro range of notebooks with the most up-to-date Intel Core 2 Duo processors, high-speed graphics and memory up to 4GB, in a 1" thick aluminium casing.

The 15.4" 2.2GHz MacBook Pro offers 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, expandable to 4GB, 120GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400rpm), NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 128MB GDDR3 memory and a slot-load 8x SuperDrive with double-layer support (DVDR DL/DVDRW/CD-RW) optical drive. It also features a DVI-out port, Dual Link support, Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB 2.0 ports, FireWire 800 port, FireWire 400 port, AirPort Extreme 802.11n wireless networking and Bluetooth 2.0 EDR and ExpressCard/34 expansion card slot.

The 15.4" and 17" 2.4GHz MacBook Pro versions provide the features of the 2.2GHz model, but with a 160GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400rpm) and NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB GDDR3 memory.

The MacBook Pro models include iLife '06, an iSight video camera, Apple MagSafe Power Adapter and Sudden Motion Sensor and retail for a suggested USD1,999 (15.4" 2.2GHz), USD2,499 (15.4" 2.4GHz) and USD2,799 (17" 2.4GHz).

Further options are also available, including an upgrade to a 160GB (5400 rpm), 160GB (7200 rpm), 200GB (4200 rpm) or 250GB (4200 rpm) hard drive and up to 4GB DDR2 SDRAM, with prices varying according to specifications.
