Worldwide Computer Products News-12 March 2007-3M introduces Vikuiti ARMR200 film for protecting mobile device displays(C)1995-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

A removable film used to protect LCD displays from scratches, fingerprint damage and scuffs has been introduced by 3M United Kingdom plc (3M), a technology company.

3M said the ultra-thin Vikuiti ARMR200 film offers protection of LCD screens used in portable devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, handheld computers, AIDC devices, games consoles and in-car navigation systems.

The film has a multi-layered construction with an anti-soiling top layer. It repels ink and is resistant to solvents such as window cleaner, cola and coffee and can withstand temperatures between -35degC and 85degC.

The ARMR200 film features an anti-reflective coating to minimise glare, improve optical clarity and increase readability, and for displays which require a stylus it does not affect touch-display sensitivity and creates a non-slip surface for writing.

3M has made the Vikuiti ARMR200 film available through its distribution channels in packs of three or five, in various sheet sizes. The company said the film needs replacing every 3-6 months, depending on usage, and claimed it allows users to extend the lifespan of their devices easily and cost-effectively.
