Worldwide Computer Products News-16 March 2007-Emulex unveils SAN-based storage management solution(C)1995-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

A SAN-based storage management and data protection solution has been unveiled by Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), a provider of products to connect storage, servers and networks, based on the Emulex Model 765-S Intelligent Services Platform and the LSI StoreAge Storage Virtualization Manager (SVM) application.

According to Emulex, the solution offers hardware acceleration for applications including low-capacity snapshots, storage pooling, mirroring, cloning and online data migration. It claimed it addresses end-user business requirements, including storage capacity planning, remote mirroring, application recovery, backup and tiered storage, quickly and cost-effectively.

Emulex said the solution hosts parts of the LSI software in the Model 765-S platform in the SAN fabric, with the 765-S extending SAN-based storage services for virtual server environments when installed in an LSI StoreAge SVM configuration. It confirmed that the solution connects to the SAN as an N_port end-point and interoperates with a vendor's fabric, supports heterogeneous server and storage environments and uses existing infrastructure investments.

The 765-S offers a 1U system with four Fibre Channel ports, uses the Emulex AV150 Intelligent Storage Processor and is intended to provide high performance, scalability and quick integration with field-proven LSI SVM applications.
