CA (NYSE:CA), an IT management software company, has announced 'day one' support for information technology company IBM (NYSE:IBM) z/VSE 4.1 across its line of mainframe software solutions.

According to the company, CA solutions for z/VSE v4.1 help IT organizations to optimize the utilisation of data centre resources, reduce total cost of ownership, secure and protect the integrity of resources, as well as respond to evolving enterprise computing requirements. Solutions supporting z/VSE 4.1 include CA Explore Performance Management, CA Dynam storage management solutions, the CA Datacom and CA IDMS families of database products, CA FAQS automation solutions, and CA Top Secret for security management.

CA reportedly participated in IBM's vendor programme for z/VSE 4.1, which operates in z/Architecture mode and is designed to support 64-bit real addressing and up to 8GB of real processor storage.

With the release, IBM is also introducing Midrange Workload License Charges (MWLC) for z/VSE 4. CA said it will accept usage reports generated by IBM's reporting facility for use with CA's own Measured Workload Pricing program, which bases licensing costs on measured system usage.
