Diversified Technology, Inc (DTI), an embedded hardware company, has announced the introduction of the ATC6231, a dual-core Second Generation AMD Opteron processor-based Node Board designed for the next generation of telecomms applications.

According to the company, the board is a PICMG 3.1 compliant processor blade combining low price with high performance for wireless access/edge, telecomms fibre transport, media gateways, soft switches, as well as Internet IP-based applications.

The Second-Generation AMD Opteron processor with Direct Connect Architecture helps eliminate the bottlenecks inherent in traditional front side bus architectures, offering high-throughput responsiveness and scalability, claimed the telecomms segment manager at AMD.

Production shipments are expected to begin in April 2007. Single piece pricing for the ATC6231 is USD4,645.
