IT management software company CA (NYSE:CA) has revealed that more than 30 CA products, including those from its security management, database management, information retrieval and resource management lines, will support IBM's DB2 9 Viper for z/OS when it is made generally available on 16 March 2007.

CA confirmed that initial products supporting DB2 9 Viper for z/OS include the CA Database Management Solution, an integrated set of tools to optimise database design, modelling, administration, performance, backup and recovery.

The CA Easytrieve information retrieval and data management tool and CA NeuMICS resource management tool are also included, plus the CA ACF2 and CA Top Secret tools which help ensure the integrity and security of organisational assets.

According to CA, by providing support for IBM DB2 9 Viper for z/OS it is continuing to enable DB2 users to improve data availability, service levels and the responsiveness of applications, while helping to ensure security. Three of the eight IT management products announced last month by CA to evaluate, monitor and use IBM's System z9 Integrated Information Processor (zIIP) were DB2 database management tools.

IBM said DB2 9 Viper for z/OS represents a new era in mainframe information management and claimed it will help boost business insight and resiliency and cost savings.
