The new 'Surface' touch-sensitive computer has been introduced by software company Microsoft, enabling users to operate the computer with their fingers rather than having to use a keyboard and mouse.

Microsoft said the coffee table-shaped computer, which is designed to interact with mobile phones placed on its surface, will be sold to corporate customers to begin with, including phone stores, hotels, casinos and restaurants.

'Multi-touch' interfaces enable the user's fingers to manipulate data, instead of having to use a mouse and menus.

Surface will feature a 30" screen and will be priced at between USD5,000 and USD10,000 initially, although Microsoft plans to manufacturer less expensive 'home' versions within three to five years, according to BBC News.
