The Toolbar Builder has been launched by LYCOS Europe, a company operating a network of websites, enabling eShop operators and individual users to produce personalised toolbars which can be downloaded by customers and friends.
LYCOS Europe developed the service with Conduit Ltd, a website marketing platform providing web hosts with a free, hosted toolbar solution for their clients. It provides the technology to produce customised, advertising-free toolbars featuring information such as company news, links, RSS feeds, product offers, and weather forecasts.

LYCOS Europe said the Toolbar Builder enables toolbars to be created in minutes, runs on all current browsers, does not require detailed programming knowledge and is available free with each Lycos Webhosting package.
According to LYCOS Europe, the Toolbar Builder enables a large number of people to be given relevant information, simultaneously. It claimed the application will enable eShop operators to send their offers to the monitors of customers even when customers are not on their website, and make news and links available.
