Worldwide Computer Products News-27 September 2007-Motorola unveils mobile WiMAX chipset modem solution(C)1995-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The mobile WiMAX chipset modem solution from Motorola Inc (NYSE:MOT), a wireless and broadband communications company, is being unveiled as part of its new 'controlled application centric architecture', intended to support 3G and 4G mobile devices efficiently.

Motorola said the solution is designed to provide ultra-high-speed functionality through thin devices and is optimised for size and low power consumption in order to further connect consumers around the world with mobile wireless broadband.

Motorola claimed the 4G feature-rich implementation speeds migration from existing 3G technologies to 4G networks in a cost-effective solution, with DSL or cable-like speeds, opening up mobile broadband business models for carriers. It offers a fully integrated memory allowing a small footprint suited for the development of new form factors and provides more efficient power consumption in comparison to current 3G technology, according to the company.

The new modem solution incorporates a baseband modem and radio reference solution and is designed for WiMAX 802.16e Wave 1.0 and 2.0 compliance, supporting advanced MIMO matrix A and B antenna configurations. It has been tested with Motorola's WiMAX infrastructure solutions and the core modem technology has been verified with infrastructure equipment from other vendors.
