Worldwide Computer Products News,  June 26, 2008

Worldwide Computer Products News-26 June 2008-Trapeze Networks introduces new version of access control management software(C)1995-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Trapeze Networks, a supplier of wireless networks and network management software, announced on 26 June that it has introduced an new version of its SmartPass access management control platform for its Trapeze NonStop Wireless networking systems.

SmartPass 7.0 provides network managers with configurable access control over the wireless network, allowing them to control who has access to the network based on both the identity of the user and the user's location.

The software can control the degree of access and the bandwidth allocated to the user according to network policies, and the access controls, based on the RFC 3576 standard, can be changed during an active session to reflect changes to policy, user's location or other events. Guest access can be rigidly controlled, with guest accounts expiring at a predetermined time or purged at the end of the day and guest accounts restricted in their access.

Trapeze has published the API for the system, so third parties can write add-ins for their own purposes. SmartPass can also work with Cisco's NAC (Network Admission Control), Microsoft's NAP (Network Access Protection) and TCG (Trusted Computer Group) standards.

Trapeze is making SmartPass available to Trapeze Network customers at a special offer price of USD295 until September 2008.
