Worldwide Computer Products News-15 June 2009-Hillcrest's Loop HID to be marketed directly to consumers(C)1995-2009 M2 COMMUNICATIONS http://www.m2.com

Consumer electronics manufacturer Hillcrest Labs announced Monday that its Loop HID (human interface device) pointer is to be sold directly to consumers.

The device, based on Hillcrest's patented Freespace technology, is a wireless remote mouse replacement, shaped like a torus and featuring a scroll wheel and four buttons. Hillcrest is targeting the device at users that connect their PC or Mac to their TV.

Hillcrest said that the device does not require line of sight for its wireless RF-based connection, so the USB receiver can be located anywhere within 30 feet of the device, even inside a cabinet. The device can be used in conjunction with Kodak's Theatre HD Player and the Apple TV player.

No pricing details were disclosed.
