Dexterra Inc, a provider of software to automate and manage mobile workforces, announced on Tuesday (5 May) new enhancements to its mobile application development platform, Dexterra Concert.

According to the company, the new release will enable Dexterra customers and partners worldwide to accelerate the development of mobile applications on the latest BlackBerry smartphones including the BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve series and BlackBerry Pearl series smartphones.

Enhancements to Dexterra Concert that will help developers to easily create mobile applications optimised to work across all types of BlackBerry smartphones include: application configurations to optimise the on-screen layout for different screen resolutions without maintaining multiple code branches; support for 'gestures' as implemented on the BlackBerry Storm; as well as new horizontal and vertical 'carousel' controls for quickly building rich application home pages.

Additional enhancements to the solution include pre-built toolbars and templates that optimise developer productivity and configurable 'themes' for specifying an application's user interface. The platform leverages an enterprise's existing back-office and legacy systems as well as new investments, enabling businesses to reduce operational costs, increase productivity and improve management visibility into field operations.

No financial details were disclosed.
