Mercury licenses streaming media technology from RealNetworks, Microsoft

California-based Mercury Interactive has partnered with RealNetworks Inc and Microsoft Corp to deliver web performance testing and monitoring systems for streaming media.

Through the partnerships Mercury has enhanced its LoadRunner load testing software and ActiveTest hosted load testing e-service with support for testing and monitoring web applications using RealNetworks' RealPlayer, RealSystem Server 8 and RealServer products and Microsoft's Windows Media Server.

LoadRunner and ActiveTest are available immediately with support for streaming media. In LoadRunner the support, provided as an add-in, starts at USD20,000 for 50 virtual players while in ActiveTest a hosted test with 100 virtual players is priced from USD15,000.

In addition Mercury's Topaz performance monitoring software and ActiveWatch monitoring e-service will offer streaming media support within 45 days. Sold on a subscription basis, Topaz will be priced from USD2,495/month and ActiveWatch from USD3,750/month.
