HSBC has partnered with IBM to develop and roll out a new e-banking system called Interactive Financial Services (IFS).

The system is designed to provide HSBC's worldwide customers with access to the bank through any of its customer channels, from the bank's interactive TV offering to the recently launched Internet service.

Capable of handling the high volumes of traffic generated through the provision of multi-channel banking, the IFS platform enables transactions carried out on one channel to show immediately on another. HSBC claims it is the first bank outside the US to utilise this technology.
