New server software solution released by Sun

CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Sun Microsystems Inc has released its iPlanet Directory Server, Access Management Edition 5.0.

The new software solution is aimed at allowing companies to centrally manage user identity or entitlement and share information across multiple applications on an e-business web site.

The release comes as a pledge from Sun to support emerging technology standards from the Liberty Alliance Project organisation dedicated to creating an open, federated single sign-on identity solution.

No pricing information was revealed.
