CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The web-based domain name registrar Register.com has launched a digital certificate security product called CommerceLock.

The new product is designed to provide companies engaged in e-commerce with the digital certificate services they need to protect the privacy of the data they receive from customers.

CommerceLock will use 128-bit secure server lock encryption - the highest level of e-security technology - from the security products developer Baltimore Technologies Plc. Baltimore will also operate as the Certificate Authority, generating the digital certificate and providing authenticity checks on each CommerceLock certificate applicant.

For a limited time CommerceLock will be available to register.com's customers for an introductory price of USD149/certificate and for customers of other registrars for USD199/certificate.
