CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The California-based Internet security specialist Symantec Corp has launched Symantec Web Security, its new product designed to provide virus protection and web filtering for web-based traffic - HTTP and FTP.

The system scans for viruses and filters content in one scan, to offer high-speed protection to IT administrators from both unknown malware threats and non-business related web content. The system also utilises heuristic technologies, in addition to list-based URL filtering, to provide multi-lingual, context-sensitive content analysis.

Other features include the use of common reporting, which automatically updates IT administrators with the latest virus and content information, and flexible policy enforcement on both a per-user and per-group basis.

Symantec Web Security is available immediately. No price was disclosed.
