CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Market intelligence and advisory firm IDC has observed that IT spending in the European manufacturing industry is falling.

The company found that while IT investment is still prevalent in the Western European manufacturing industry, the rate of investment is lower than in the past. This is reportedly down to the need for companies to enhance their business processes and manufacturing flexibility to improve efficiency and meet customer demand.

A spokesperson for the company said that manufacturing organisations have been more affected by the economic downturn and so have more likely delayed any investment in IT until 2003.
