CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Communications and information exchange company Nortel Networks has announced the immediate availability of a new product for companies wanting to deploy multimedia services.

The Nortel Networks Media Application Server is designed to be used with the Nortel Networks Multimedia Communications Server 5100 and 5200. The inclusion of the new product will provide enhanced media processing functionality to the server so that companies can cross engineer voice, video and text communications, according to Nortel. This will reportedly enable service providers to take more advantage of an IP infrastructure and integrate multiple communications services such as e-mail, video e-mail, text-to-speech conversation, video streaming and videoconferencing into one service.

No pricing details were disclosed.
