New intrusion prevention appliance unveiled by Symantec

Information security company Symantec Corp (Nasdaq: SYMC) has introduced a new intrusion prevention appliance, the Symantec Network Security 7100 Series.

The product range is Symantec's first to offer multi-gigabit intrusion protection and One Click to Prevention capability.

Three different models of the Symantec Network Security 7100 Series will be offered - 7120, 7160 and 7161 - to cater for different performance needs and port configurations. Customers will also receive up to one year of telephone support, advanced replacement, software upgrade insurance and content updates.

The Symantec Network Security 7100 Series is scheduled to become available in August 2004. No pricing details were announced.
