Gartner, a research company, has recommended that businesses ban employees from using their own mobile data storing devices in the company network.

The blacklisted items from Gartner include devices like Apple's iPod MP3 players and digital cameras equipped with memory cards. According to Gartner, it is possible to bring destructive software into the network or to steal data with the aid of such devices. The process is also very fast due to the USB and FireWire connections of such devices, reported the Finnish online IT newsletter IT-viikko.
