CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

IT research, advisory services and strategic consulting provider META Group Inc (Nasdaq: METG) has predicted that security investments will account for 12% of all companies' IT budgets in 2006.

The company claims that companies in the US will invest between 8% and 12% of their IT budgets in security by 2006 while businesses in Europe and Asia will reach this level by 2007.

Following the peak at 12%, the proportion of IT budgets spent on security will decrease to between 5% and 8%. This will occur in the US by 2008 and in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region by 2009.

A spokesperson for the company said IT security remains a high-priority issue for company executives.
