CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Assurance, tax and advisory services provider PricewaterhouseCoopers has revealed that one out of every three large companies in the UK has had a hacker attack their web sites within the last year.

The survey carried out by PricewaterhouseCoopers also showed that three quarters of all those companies that experienced an online security breach rated it as the worst security incident of the year. Also, a quarter of all security breaches took between two and ten man-days of effort to investigate and rectify the attack.

Other results found that a firewall was the main form of security employed although half of all those questioned said it was their only form of security against hacker attacks.
