NEC and Sun expand strategic alliance

CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

IT technology companies, NEC and Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW), have extended their strategic alliance to create new system solutions, that will incorporate technology from both companies.

The new expansion will cover the growth of a joint systems integration business relationship, development of secure voice and data solutions and enhanced collaboration in the development of middleware software. The new solutions are schedule to be made available in Japan and around the world.

A spokesperson for NEC said that the two companies have been steadily expanding their partnership since 2000, and that the new extension is about expanding the previous product-based partnership into one covering strategic systems integration collaboration, which will target the global market.
