Packeteer Inc (Nasdaq:PKTR), a provider of WAN application optimisation, has announced the release of a new troubleshooting and reporting tool called the Host Analysis Plug-in. The new tool is able to detect network anomalies by analysing host and traffic flow activity.
The new Plug-in is available as a software plug-in for PacketShaper WAN appliances and provides application-level diagnostic information on a WAN optimisation appliance. Through using a web interface for real-time visibility, the tool is able to provide aggregated host reporting and application-layer visibility.

The user interface provided by Packeteer is designed for investment protection through feature additions with software plug-ins, enabling customers to expand the features and capabilities of their existing WAN appliances as the company develops new technology, Packeteer said.
The Host Analysis Plug-in is downloadable from http://www.packeteer.com/support and is free of charge to customers with active service contracts.
