CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Voice services integrator Freedom Communications and managed telecomms service provider AlwaysON have announced that they are to launch a new managed voice service aimed at the small and medium-sized business (SMB) market.

The service - which will carry the Freedom brand - is to be launched through a website and direct mail campaign at the end of March 2005. The companies said that the service will allow SMBs to reduce capital expenditure on new telecomms systems in new and expanding offices, and will take advantage of the benefits offered by AlwaysON's IP-Centrex-based service.

AlwaysON will eliminate the need for hardware or software upgrades by offering the use of non-public carrier-grade private virtual networks, combined with firewall technologies and core-based virtual routing. The cost of the new service was not released.
