Software company Microsoft Corp has warned computer users of three 'critical' security flaws in the company's Windows operating system, which could enable attackers to gain control of a computer.

Microsoft has issued patches, which are available for download at www.microsoft.com/security, to resolve the security problems as part of its monthly security bulletin. Its Windows operating system currently runs on 90% of computers used around the world.

Microsoft said one of the vulnerabilities could enable an attacker to gain control of the PC via some versions of its Internet Explorer browser, while the other two vulnerabilities concern the Windows operating system.

In addition Microsoft issued a security warning rated as 'important', its second-highest level, for Microsoft Windows and also one rated as 'moderate'. An 'important' vulnerability could enable an attacker to gain access to confidential data but will not allow it to replicate itself to other PCs.
