The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Alliance has been established by VMware Inc, a virtualisation software company, providing a technology alliance of hardware, software and service providers.
According to VMware desktops are the most under-used and most difficult to manage IT asset for businesses. It claimed its Virtual Desktop Infrastructure enables IT administrators to host and centrally manage desktop virtual machines in the data centre, while enabling end users to access a full desktop experience from anywhere, at any time.
