Winchester Systems, Inc, a data storage solutions company, has introduced its Enterprise RAID 6.
According to the company, Enterprise RAID 6 is a high performance, high reliability disk array featuring enterprise class, 1.2m hour MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) SATA (E-SATA) disk drives and dual parity RAID 6 data protection. Enterprise RAID 6 has up to 30,000 times the MTDL (Mean Time to Data Loss) of RAID 5 with minimal performance loss, and by using dual custom hardware ASICs the company was able to produce a RAID 6 array that is faster than most commercial RAID 5 arrays using a single ASIC or software, claims Chief Technology Officer at Winchester Systems. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of systems with Enterprise RAID 6 starts at under USD20,000.
