OGCbuying.solutions, the trading arm of the UK Office of Government Commerce (OGC), announced on Tuesday (12 September) that, as a result of the number of Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) licenses issued across the public sector now exceeding 1.5m, under the OGC's 'Memorandum of Understanding' (MoU), a further discount has been delivered.

The MoU between Microsoft and OGC is understood to provide discounts on desktop software under Enterprise and Select Agreement licences, including discounts on support packages. The new higher discount level will reportedly reduce Microsoft license fees for public sector users by over GBP1m per year.

The new discount available on Enterprise Agreements can now be enjoyed by all public sector bodies and the savings can be reinvested into front-line public services, claimed the chief executive of OGCbuying.solutions.
