A Secure Network infrastructure from Enterasys Networks Inc, a Secure Networks solutions provider, has been deployed by Hermitage Medical Clinic, a private hospital in the Republic of Ireland, to provide secure network connectivity for hundreds of healthcare professionals and staff at its new hospital.

The new 1,100 node network incorporates the Matrix N-Series flow switches from Enterasys at the core, along with 48-port Enterasys SecureStack C-Series secure edge switches with Gigabit ports at the distribution layer. The clinic said the security features embedded in the solutions from Enterasys allow the hospital to comply with healthcare security regulations, ensuring infrastructure security and control of access to confidential patient data.

In addition, the network allows the hospital to provide secure network access for patients and other guest users, with the hospital able to control network access through authenticating authorised users and devices. It supports applications and technologies such as IP telephony and wireless voice solutions from Siemens, and a healthcare information application, supporting the administrative, clinical and financial systems of the hospital.

The Hermitage Medical Clinic plans to deploy the NetSight Management Suite from Enterasys in the future, providing visibility and control of the infrastructure, expanding its infrastructure monitoring capabilities.
