Emulex HBAs selected for Intel's new quad-core storage server

Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), a provider of products to connect storage, servers and networks, has revealed that the new quad-core storage server from chip manufacturer Intel uses its 4Gb/s family of LightPulse HBAs for SAN connectivity.

The Intel storage server SSR212MC2 platform can be configured for various solutions such as NAS, SAN or application servers and is intended for the small and medium sized business (SMB) market.

Emulex said its 4Gb/s PCI Express LPe11000 and PCI-X LP11000 families of HBAs are supported and qualified for use with the Intel SSR212MC2. It also said the Intel storage server and Emulex HBAs combined offer a scalable architecture powered by the quad-core Intel Xeon processor 5300 series.

According to Intel its new storage server enables cost effective enterprise-class solutions, allowing businesses to more easily manage accelerating data growth. It confirmed that working with Emulex to provide high-performance, reliable SAN connectivity enables resellers and integrators to customise solutions to suit businesses of all sizes.
