Fujitsu Siemens Computers, a European IT provider, announced on Tuesday (13 November) a second-generation x10sure server solution.

According to the company, the second generation of x10sure features support and protection for VMware server virtualisation, as well as an iSCSI storage option and enhanced storage redundancy. These features have been added to x10sure's core function as a simplified, automated, rapid-recovery and consolidation solution that provides high availability for standard Windows-based servers and local disk storage.

Version two reportedly offers a stepped approach to incorporating VMware virtualisation into server configurations. As a starting point, a few virtual servers can be added to an x10sure configuration using the entry-level VMware Server product. Additional virtual servers can be added to the x10sure configuration using the mid-range VMware ESX Standard Edition product, which allows a fixed allocation of system resources between virtual machines. For the most complex virtualisation requirements, the company offers x10sure in its ESX Server Enterprise Edition, which combines the VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3 package, allowing automated migration of virtual servers.

Pricing starts at EUR9200 for a five-node licence.
