An IT services agreement valued at USD5.7m has been signed by computer company IBM (NYSE:IBM) with Banco Patagonia, a private financial institution in Argentina.

IBM said it will manage consolidation, virtualisation, technology updates, implementation of a backup datacentre and all administration and support services for the bank's servers, under the agreement. It confirmed the new contract, signed last month, will also provide external storage for the bank's main datacentre, backup datacentre and for all critical services provided by IBM.

According to IBM, the agreement expands upon the ten year, USD15m technology outsourcing agreement signed with Banco Patagonia in 2005. IBM was, through the prior agreement, put in charge of operating the bank's IT infrastructure and processing platform, which is managed from IBM's Technology Campus in Martinez, Argentina.
