Maxxium selects Verizon for hosted VoIP service

Verizon Business (Verizon), a provider of advanced communications and IT solutions and a unit of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ), has been selected to host a voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP) service for Maxxium, a spirits and wine distribution company, for its international headquarters in the Netherlands.

Verizon said the service will help Maxxium to use the functionality, cost efficiencies and flexibility of outsourced VoIP communications to meet its business objectives in the global beverages marketplace.

Maxxium selected a fully-outsourced, IP-based voice communications infrastructure, built on Verizon Hosted IP Centrex, after consolidating its international headquarters and local Dutch office in January, rather than implementing a traditional in-house PBX. Verizon claimed such a solution can remove much of the cost of installing and running an on-premises telephony system, achieve substantial efficiency improvements and increase business flexibility.

According to Maxxium, the Hosted IP Centrex solution provides a scalable, cost-efficient IT infrastructure without the requirement for capital expenditure, only operational costs.

Maxxium selected Verizon in 2001 to provide a Private IP network to connect its 2,300 employes in 35 countries and has since deployed Direct Voice, Verizon Internet Dedicated, Verizon Conferencing and Verizon Colocation.
