LANDesk Software, Ltd, an Avocent (Nasdaq:AVCT) company and a provider of IT service management solutions, announced on Wednesday (17 October) its LANDesk Server Manager product has been certified by computer company Dell Inc (Nasdaq:DELL) for its patch management through the Dell OpenManage Certified Partner Program.

The certification programme has reportedly been designed to help customers identify solutions that they can trust to simplify their operations and help them gain control over their Dell computing environment. According to the company, LANDesk has demonstrated the ability to integrate Dell's OpenManage technology into the LANDesk Server Manager and has passed Dell's certification testing. The solution has demonstrated that it can help customers optimize service availability across the enterprise, at the same time enabling customers to reduce their management and ownership costs.

The Dell certification process requires the integrated software to gather inventory, detect vulnerability for Dell hardware updates, and deploy Dell Update Packages to 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th generation Dell PowerEdge servers. In addition, the certification process requires the integrated solution to run on several enterprise server operating systems, the company said.

The integrated LANDesk Server Manager and Dell OpenManage solution is available now. No financial details were disclosed.
