Esurance deploys Cisco's security technology

Security technology from networking solutions provider Cisco (Nasdaq:CSCO) has been deployed by Esurance, a direct-to-consumer personal auto insurance company and subsidiary of White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd (NYSE:WTM), as part of a Cisco-based network intended to provide a multi-layered defence solution and help support and secure various initiatives such as data protection, compliance and online services.

Esurance offers online quotes, comparison quotes and real-time verification of driving records and other information and enables policy holders to make policy changes and monitor their vehicles' repair online.

Cisco's Self-Defending Network is one of Esurance's main security components, offering centralised management and visibility into its security framework, while generating reports for compliance purposes, helping the company to protect consumer information and meet its compliance requirements.

Esurance has deployed Cisco's Security Monitoring, Analysis and Response System (Cisco Security MARS), at the centre of its network security infrastructure, providing event correlation and a centralised view of the security landscape. It provides a dashboard allowing Esurance to streamline the management of its security system, allowing security staff to efficiently monitor its security system and helping to ensure business continuity and operational efficiency.
